Bilingual education, internationalisation and (global) citizenship are all important features of our educational programme. You can see this, for example, in our bilingual education (TTO) and our connection to the European Unesco network, but also in the trips we take together.<\/p>

If you attend Werenfridus, school trips are an integral part of the education you receive with us. We offer a wide choice of trips across different year groups and studies. The destination may change each academic year, but gaining experience, speaking a foreign language, working with your classmates, and having a lot of fun together are fixed components of the adventure you embark on as students every year.<\/p>

First-year introductory camp<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

For several years, we have organised a transition camp for the first-year secondary school students in the period before the May holiday. During this three-day transition trip, the students depart by bus to Friesland<\/b> for sporting activities and a fun time together.<\/p>

For example, the pupils will build a catamaran which they will then be allowed to sail on a Frisian lake themselves. Furthermore, we will go on a cycling expedition through the surrounding villages and play games (on and by the water). We will eat marshmallows around the campfire and have a festive karaoke evening. Three enjoyable days that we always look back on with great pleasure!<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Year 3 on a trip<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

In the third year, you go abroad with your classmates. The 3 havo students go to Berlin in June, 3 vwo go to Prague, and the TTO students go to\u2026 you guessed it: England!<\/p>

We have drawn up a programme for each trip, but there is also time to explore the city with your classmates. In Berlin<\/b> For example, can we explore all the sights in small groups, climb the dome of the Reichstag, visit the former concentration camp memorial Sachsenhausen, and go to a tropical water park. Prague<\/b> Among other things, we'll do a treasure hunt, visit the former Theresienstadt concentration camp and a nuclear bunker, and take a cruise on the Vltava river.\u00a0<\/p>

The TTO students are going by bus and boat to Cranbrook<\/b>. Here you can stay in small groups with host families, so you can experience English culture and hospitality up close and put your English into practice. We have all sorts of excursions planned and visit a different city every day.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Year 4 on a trip<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

In the fourth year, we are also going on a trip. For example, 4 havo will go to Barcelona, with the exception of the TTO students. That group will go to London together with the bilingual part of 5 vwo. All students from 4 gymnasium will go to Trier.\u00a0<\/p>

In 4 havo, we are undertaking a sports and cultural trip to\u00a0Lille<\/strong>. We stroll through the elegant streets, take a bike tour of the city and soak up the French atmosphere. We visit the green Zoo de Lille, go to the Accro Lille adventure park and take a city walk in Ypres. On the way back, we make a stop at Sparkx in Ghent, a super-large indoor sports park with 50 different sports.\u00a0<\/p>

During the journey to London<\/b> The 4 havo and 5 vwo TTO students will gain in-depth knowledge of the English language and culture. We will visit a museum, go on a scavenger hunt, and take a Jack the Ripper tour, among other activities. Additionally, we will visit the university city of Oxford, where students will learn more about studying in England.\u00a0<\/p>

The pupils of 4th year gymnasium are receiving in Trier<\/strong> a number of beautiful Roman sights to see. Think of the Porta Nigra, the amphitheatre, the basilica where Constantine received his guests, and the various Roman bathhouses, where you can admire the baths and even wander through the underground tunnel system.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Year 5 & 6 on a trip<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

If you are in the fifth year, there is a trip to London or Rome planned. The TTO pupils from 5 VWO will go, together with the TTO pupils from 4 HAVO, to London<\/b>. The rest of VWO 5 are also going to London, but this is a different trip to the TTO group. The students from Gymnasium 5 and 6 are going to Rome.<\/p>

Every two years there is a trip to <\/span>Rome<\/b> organised for years 5 and 6 of secondary school. We will visit classical highlights such as the Colosseum, Roman Forum and the Pantheon, but you will see much more of the city. Afterwards, we will travel on to climb Mount Vesuvius and visit Pompeii. We will travel by bus along the idyllic Amalfi Coast to also visit a few Greek temples in Paestum.\u00a0<\/span>This trip pays close attention to archaeology, history and religion, but there is also ample time for relaxation and free time.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
