Werenfridus is a school that challenges your talents. Pupils are given the opportunity to develop according to their own abilities. This is accompanied by appropriate support. The first point of contact for this is the mentor and the teachers. Sometimes more is needed. The ambition is to provide tailor-made solutions for pupils with support needs. We want to guide them well and competently towards a suitable diploma or a suitable pathway. We do this by stimulating self-confidence and independence. To achieve this, we utilise professionals both inside and outside the school. We encourage the professional conduct of staff and invest in the mentor as a coach.<\/p>

In bespoke educational pathways, pupils have \u2018the right to be heard, the right to speak, and the right to have their say\u2019. External support staff are also connected to the school, such as the truancy officer, school doctor, school nurse, and youth and family worker. They also play an active role in the prevention of unauthorised absence and in supporting pupils.<\/i><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

There are many possibilities for inclusive education. This does not mean that we can create a separate curriculum for every student. The goal is for every student to receive as much of their education as possible in their own classroom. Some students need more support than others. That is why all schools offer basic support and additional support. Below, we explain the difference. The schools in the region have agreed on the basic support they offer; you can read more about this below as well. Basic Support <\/h4>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Basic support is for pupils who need a little extra help to be able to participate in their own classroom. For example, because they have difficulty with languages or maths. But also if they have problems with behaviour or with learning, if they are actually very good at learning (gifted), or if they have been ill for a long time. Every school in the West Friesland region can provide this help.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Extra support <\/h4>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Sometimes a pupil, for whatever reason, needs more help. We call that extra support. The school also tries to arrange this help itself. Sometimes experts or care providers come to the school for this. This could be a support coordinator, guidance counsellor, or appropriate education coordinator, but also the careers advisor, anti-bullying coordinator or confidant<\/a>. They support you and help your mentor and teachers to provide you with good education. To give you an example of broad support: this is the help you receive if, for instance, you have problems at home, suffer from an anxiety disorder or depression, or if you have AD(H)D. With the help of our experts, we do our best to ensure that you can stay at our school for as long as possible. However, if you cannot follow the normal curriculum, we will look for another learning environment together.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

If you have a support need other than the basic or extra support we offer here at school, we will work together to enlist the help of Samenwerkingsverband VO West-Friesland for in-depth support. This is the partnership behind all secondary schools in West-Friesland. The partnership can help you if you are unable to follow the normal curriculum fully or partially. Did you know that approximately 10% of our pupils are gifted? This means you'll always find like-minded individuals for development at our school.<\/p>

All gifted pupils will receive information about how their brains work in the first few weeks of the first year in the Brugklascaf\u00e9. You will also investigate what your challenges may be and how you can further develop your study skills.<\/p>

Often, gifted primary school pupils haven't needed to learn *how* to learn. As the curriculum at secondary school becomes more extensive and challenging, it becomes more important to gain a better understanding of this.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
