Working at Werenfridus
Are you curious about what it's like to work with us? Werenfridus is a school for HAVO, Atheneum and Gymnasium. Our students enjoy theoretical learning, and you can tell from the atmosphere in the classroom. The building is divided into learning houses, organised by subject group.
In the learning centre for languages, for example, you'll find not only the classrooms for Dutch, English, French and German, but also a study area where pupils can work independently. During free periods or after school, this area is regularly used to do homework or prepare for a test.

Guidance from teacher coaches
Are you joining us as a new teacher? Our team of teacher coaches will welcome you. They would be happy to tell you more about the support you will receive:
“We'll guide you through the school and give you the tools so you can stand in front of the class as relaxed as possible. We'll coach you and organise six training sessions/gatherings. And whether you're a beginner or an experienced teacher, we'll ensure that there's always something to be gained from the training sessions and coaching.
The entire process with your coach and the training days is aimed at ensuring you perform to the best of your ability and can get off to a good start at Werenfridus. The guidance continues throughout the first three years that you are with us. And even after that, we are here for you should you need it.”
Bilingual education
Here at school, students have the opportunity to follow bilingual education (TTO). This means that approximately 50 percent of the regular lessons are taught in English, for both havo and vwo. Our TTO students also have an additional programme with excursions, trips abroad and the subject Global Citizenship, on global citizenship in the broadest sense of the word.
Pupils can take various international exams, and among other qualifications, can obtain their Cambridge Advanced Exam certificate. Werenfridus is the only certified Senior TTO school in West Friesland – and we are proud of that.
Beautiful workplace
One of the bonus points of working at Werenfridus is the beautiful school building. The first stone was laid in 1954, but even after its completion in 1956, renovations continued for a long time. The number of students kept growing, so an extension was added each time. In 2018, there was a big celebration when, after a significant renovation, we were allowed to work in our own building again.
However much has changed, improved, and been modernised, if you look closely you will still see elements of the old building. We would be happy to give you a tour during your job interview.
