Absence due to illness
Every day that the pupil is absent, we ask parent(s)/carer(s) to report their child's absence. Via the Somtoday parent app or with a computer or tablet via the Somtoday website Can you report your child sick or absent yourself due to medical appointments (e.g. at the GP, dentist, orthodontist or hospital).
For this, you will need to install version 1.6.29 of the Somtoday app. Generally, you will be notified if there is an app update on Android and iOS. If you experience problems reporting absences via the app, it is best to delete and re-download or reinstall the app.
We prefer the above method, but it is also possible to report sickness by telephone. This must also be done every day, during the period that the pupil is ill. Parents/carers can call us, preferably before 9 am, on 0229 – 28 58 28.
Getting sick at school
If you become ill at school and wish to go home, you must first report to reception to sign out. Before we allow you to go home, we may contact your parent(s)/guardian(s) first.
If you are still ill the next day, we ask your parents/carers to report you as sick. If you are at school the next day, it is necessary to bring a completed absence declaration form.
Injury and the PE lesson
If you are unable to participate in gymnastics or PE due to a short-term injury, you must report to the gymnastics teacher with a note from your parent(s)/guardian(s). In principle, you must still attend gymnastics lessons. You will make arrangements for this with the gymnastics teacher. For longer-term injuries, other arrangements can be made in consultation with the teacher and via the team leader. We do require a note from the treating specialist in this case.
Away due to (medical) appointment
If your (medical) appointment falls during school hours, your parent(s)/carer(s) can also arrange this via the Somtoday parent app or with a computer or tablet via the Somtoday website Indicate. It is also possible to do this with a pre-filled note that you hand in at reception. The sooner we know, the better.
