Preventing distraction

Of course, it's very tempting to check social media or sneakily play a game during lessons or when doing homework. At Tabor College, we do everything we can to keep students focused in class. There are various solutions for this.

Jamf

Jamf is our mobile device management (MDM) system; the system we use to manage our pupils' iPads and thereby optimally support the learning process. Thanks to this system, the school can, before or during a lesson:

  • Install educational apps automatically on the iPad;
  • Hide non-education apps;
  • Distribute documents needed during the lesson;
  • Put the iPad in keyboard mode.

Jamf Parent

Jamf Parent is a free iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Android app that allows you, as a parent/guardian, to manage your child's iPad(s). With Jamf Parent, you can restrict and allow apps and device functionalities on your child's devices. You can only manage your child's devices with Jamf Parent during periods specified by the school's IT department.

In this video, you'll see how to link your child's iPad(s) to Jamf Parent.

As not all devices are yet linked to Jamf, you may not see the Self Service app on your child's iPad. This will need to be linked to our Jamf environment first. Should you have any further questions about the Jamf Parent app, please ask them via ihelp@tabor.nl

Apple Classroom

During the lesson, the teacher can manage the iPads via the Apple Classroom programme. This allows the teacher to ‘lock’ the pupils' iPads to specific apps during the lesson. The programme also enables the teacher to see what the pupils are actually looking at during the lesson and to make corrections if they deviate from agreed rules. You can read more about Apple Classroom and the possibilities of this programme at this website.

Consent form for iPad restriction

We also have the option to put your iPad into school mode. This means your iPad will only be available for educational purposes 24/7. To set this restriction, we need permission from your parents/guardians. You can find the permission form via the button below.
