Internationally recognised qualifications

If you successfully complete our bilingual HAVO and/or VWO, you can leave school with the following international diplomas:

Bilingual HAVO (t-havo)

  1. First Certificate Examination
At the end of the third year, you will conclude the lower school with the Cambridge English First exam, also known as FCE.
  2. IGCSE Business Studies
Year 3 has already started with the English-language subject. Business Studies. In year 4 you will finish this with the internationally recognised diploma at the end of the school year.
  3. International Baccalaureate programme (IB)
In the fourth year of t-havo, you will begin preparing for the IB exam during your ‘English’ lessons. You will take this exam in the second half of your fifth year. Upon successful completion, you will receive the valuable IB certificate.
  4. Cambridge Advanced Exam
4 **HAVO** students can also prepare for the CAE exam in the spring. This is an elective subject.

These diplomas will give you a huge advantage in any further education course.

Bilingual VWO (t-VWO)

The difference in subject offerings compared to the t-havo is that on t-vwo, you also take the subject ‘biology’ in English. Furthermore, the English-language subject package is the same.

  1. First Certificate Examination
In Year 10 (two years before finishing secondary school), you will take the Cambridge English First exam, also known as FCE.
  2. Cambridge Advanced Exam
In the t-VWO programme, you start preparations for the CAE in Year 3. This is a compulsory subject in this course.
  3. International Baccalaureate programme
In years 5 and 6, you will study IB (International Baccalaureate; English Language and Literature) and conclude with the internationally recognised examination.

The IB programme in both departments is a challenging programme in which students are introduced to language, literature, and academic skills.

TTO junior certificate

In Year 2 (t-vwo) and Year 3 (t-havo), pupils also take a test (FCE) which assesses their English level. If they are at the correct level and have successfully completed all parts of the Global Citizenship subject with a pass or merit grade, they will receive their TTO Junior Certificate at the end of the year.

TTO Senior Certificate

Pupils who pass their IB exams and who have successfully completed all components for the GC subject will receive their TTO senior certificate.
