Pillars TTO

Bilingual education rests on three pillars:

  • Language proficiency
  • Global citizenship
  • Personal development

Language proficiency

Pupils speak English to a high level. They can use the language not only in a classroom setting but also in various international and/or intercultural settings, regardless of the topic of conversation. CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) methodology is an important tool for achieving this. This is the methodology behind bilingual education and involves a communicative, active and language-aware approach. Our teachers are supported in this by certified CLIL coaches.

Citizenship

Pupils develop an open, broad outlook on the world. This is achieved by creating an international setting at school on a daily basis. But also by sending pupils out into the world. By being members of the Dutch Unesco Schools Network, we have access to a large network and short lines of communication with other Unesco schools.

Personal development

Personal development is largely the aim of the first two pillars. The pupil grows as a person. Pupils can reflect, are engaged, responsible, creative, enterprising, and resilient. We train our pupils to be socially engaged, independent, and motivated European citizens.
